Often a lyric will just pop into my head and then I’l flesh it out into a full song. The first line that started this track was
“I’m not a fan of this behaviour;
Who nominated you to be our saviour?”
As the next few lines fell into place it was giving off both a ‘political’ and ‘bad relationship’ smell so that’s what I ran with. I love songs that can be applied to more than one situation yet each time I sing this song I first think of dodgy politicians (and oh how the world seems to be full of them).
It could also be that this is front of mind for me as I’ve recently been watching House of Cards and it’s scary that real news (of fake news) is more frightening than the show.
On the flipside, Behaviour Saviour (which is also B.S. 😉) could easily be about an uneven relationship where one person is doing all the giving and the other is doing all the taking! That’s not a recipe for a healthy relationship so I can imagine the giver just wanting to take a dive into this pool to get away from the using and abusing.
The pool could also refer to the ‘taker’ “flaunting their lifestyle” 😛

LYRICS
As you looking over my shoulder
Can you feel it growing colder
I have tired of all your vices
Would it be so hard to just be nice
You are so unnecessary
I was working downtown
While you were flaunting your lifestyle
You think you're better than
Me, than he, than she, than we
CHORUS
I don't wanna be the man by your side
Don't wanna be the tears in your eyes
Don't matter if you change your lifestyle
I don't wanna be, I don't wanna be
I'm not a fan of this behaviour
Who nominated you to be our saviour
It is so unnecessary
So I've found the voice to speak
And I'm gonna use it to ask you to leave
Cause you are so unnecessary
I was working downtown
While you were flaunting your lifestyle
You think you're better than
Me, than he, than she, than we
CHORUS
I was working downtown
While you were flaunting your lifestyle
You think you're better than
Me, than he, than she, than we
But who gave you the right
To judge other people's lives
When you have never worked a day in your life
CHORUS
